Casino manager testifies
Trinidad & Tobago: The Turkish Manager of the Club Princess casino yesterday took the stand in the ongoing CCTV murder inquiry in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court.
Bahadir Gur, Manager of the Club Princess branch on Independence Square and Ozan Coskungur, the branch’s Surveillance Operator who is in charge of the casino’s closed circuit television (CCTV) system, testified for the State.
They were questioned by prosecutor Randall Hector and defence attorney Kirk Hogan.
Charged in the inquiry is Marlon Skerritt of Block 22, Bain Quarry, Laventille who is alleged to have murdered bartender Lester Matooram, 24, just outside the Club Princess casino on Independence Square on July 22.
He is also alleged to have stabbed Matooram’s girlfriend Treasure Ash, on the same date.
On December 11 last year, digital video footage showing the actual commission of a murder was for the first time tendered into evidence in a court of law which has now been dubbed the ‘CCTV inquiry’.
Since that date the video footage, taken from several CCTV cameras has been replayed in open court for the purpose of cross-examination.
Also testifying yesterday was PC Clevan Logan of the Besson Street Police Station. The matter was adjourned to next Tuesday.
