Belize: Gunmen raid San Pedro casino for $62,000
Two masked gunmen who smashed through the glass doors of Casino Belize on Coconut Drive in San Pedro last Tusday night, got away with $62,000 in cash and traveller’s cheques.
The relative ease with which they took the money is feeding speculation that they had inside help.
Eyewitnesses say the gunmen broke the Gunmen raid San Pedrocasino for $62,000outer glass door of the money room and pried open a second set of doors.
Employees working in the money room said they feared for their lives. Silently they handed over the money bags. The robery was over in a flash.
Reports say the watchman on duty was unarmed, and so were the security guards who ran up to help when he summoned them.
The police have set out to interrogate everybody on the casino staff, but no arrests have been made.
